Kitty the cat survives nine-shot attack

As if seeking to prove the verity of the old myth of a cat's nine lives, Kitty - a feline resident of Traneberg in western Sweden - is recovering after surviving nine shots to her head and torso.

"The shooter must have been standing very close for the pellets to have gone so deep," said vet Andrew Blockley to the local Hallands Nyheter daily.

Kitty dragged herself injured and bloody to the family home in Traneberg in Varberg on Saturday.

Everyone presumed that she had got herself embroiled in a fight with a dog and had been bitten, including the vet at Halland animal hospital in Slöinge - until three air gun pellets were found on her person.

One had penetrated her nasal shaft, one was lodged just under her eye and a third in the midriff. On closer inspection, evidence was uncovered revealing a total of nine shots.

The cat is presumed to have been caught and detained as an air rifle has to be reloaded after every round.

"If the cat was shot at nine times it must clearly have been prevented from running away," Blockley told the newspaper.

Kitty was operated on on Monday and is expected to make a full recovery.

The police have opened an investigation into a suspected case of cruelty to animals.

This is fu****g disgusting how some low life scumbags can do this to an defenceless animal. I would like to see how they like it if the same were done to them.
16:49 April 14, 2010 by kateland
I Hope they find this sick F***. They will most likely turn into some sort of human abuser in the future. I have read many studies that link animal cruelty, animal torture and animal killing to serial killers.

"The FBI has recognized the connection since the 1970s, when its analysis of the lives of serial killers suggested that most had killed or tortured animals as children. Other research has shown consistent patterns of animal cruelty among perpetrators of more common forms of violence, including child abuse, spouse abuse, and elder abuse. In fact, the American Psychiatric Association considers animal cruelty one of the diagnostic criteria of conduct disorder."

For all animal abusers, I think we should let the punishment fit the crime. For example, if someone ties a dog to a tree just out of reach of its water bowl during the blazing hot summer, I say we forget about fines and jail time. Let the same thing be done to them. See how they like it.

Therefore, I think it would be fitting if the perpetrator was restrained a shot nine times with a small caliber rifle.

Sorry, if this offends anyone but I have absolutely no sympathy, empathy, or patience for anyone who could torture a defenseless animal like that. They are the lowest scum of the earth.

I think even people who aren't animal lovers would agree this is sick.
17:49 April 14, 2010 by Swedesmith
Sounds like we have a young Jeffery Dahmer living in Varberg. Hope someone talks and the police catch this sicko before he moves up the ladder to humans.
18:28 April 14, 2010 by soultraveler3
Someone should catch the people responsible and do the same thing to their worthless piece of sh#t @sses. It had to be at least 2 people since they said the poor cat was prevented from getting away. People are so sick.

There has been numerous studies showing the connection between animals abusers and murderers.

Every single serial killer has also been found to torture animals.

Totally agree! All I could think of while reading this is my sweet, loving, little man cat snuggling up next to me every night and wondering how anyone could hurt him. I say an eye for eye and a tail for a tail!

I think these air guns can be as lethal as the real things and they should be banned.

I can relate to this kitty a little. I was also shot while I was going across a college campus in the USA. The air gun bullet went right through my leg and is still in the front of my leg. It entered in the back of my leg and lodged itself in the front.

I'm a cat of a different sort. :-)

I think the guy who did this whether he is a kid or an adult should get jail time.

When things like this happen they really have to be taken seriously. As kateland said earlier in the comments animal cruelty is directly linked to a future of human cruelty. It is scary to think about who could do something like this, and what they will be doing ten years from now.

Cat of nine tails just seems appropriate when they catch this b*stard.
10:25 April 15, 2010 by kuuipo
This is a frightening trend. Just a couple of days ago I read about 4 guys, ages 18-22 that had tortured and set fire to a couple of rabbits and filmed the whole thing. See http://spikharry.wordpress.com/2010/04/13/djurplagarnas-namn-finns-tillganliga/ .

I shudder to think what these people will be like later in life. And how can there be 2 - 4 guys in the same proximity that are able to get together with the same sadistic minds? It boggles my mind!

Let's take turns firing pellets up this f*cks nasal shaft, see how he likes it.
16:06 April 16, 2010 by Icarusty
On the plus side, Kitty's owner is HOT.

Yes, budding serial killer at work. Let's hope they nail him before he gets to work on his unfortunate neighbourhood.
22:17 April 16, 2010 by tigerstripe
Hope they catch him. And the ass that left the disgusting post #13. They can sit in prison together.
01:02 April 17, 2010 by mkvgtired
Shoot him 9 times with a .45 ACP and save everyone the future trouble. Someone who can detain an animal and cruelly shoot it several times (while it is still alive mind you) will surely have no problem torturing/killing other animals as well as people.
23:47 April 17, 2010 by tigerstripe
This is also why it's so important not to let cats roam outside.
17:15 April 19, 2010 by dmj123
I hope they find this person before they graduate to bigger game. Torturing animals is one of the behaviors displayed by many serial killers. It indicates a lack of empathy for other living things which is a prerequisite for serial killers.
16:04 April 21, 2010 by dreamsofsweden
If someone did this to my cat, I'd put a bullet through their head nine times. I cannot stand cruelty to animals. Show me a human suffering and I might feel bad for them (depending on circumstances). Show me a cat or dog suffering and I get sick to my stomach.

Cats have nine lives, so its a vivid example how she survive.

But that dirt and cruel humanbeing should be shot 999 between his eyes!!!! Motherf****r!!!
