Man sentenced for killing 'noisy' neighbour

A 39-year-old man from Karlskrona in southern Sweden who admitted to stabbing his neighbour to death citing incessant noise coming from the victim's flat, was sentenced to psychiatric care by a Blekinge court on Friday.

The district court ruled that the man be kept in care under special discharge conditions.

According to the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) legal advisory board, the man suffers from a serious psychiatric condition.

He has previously admitted to killing his 19-year-old neighbour in January in a frenzied knife attack, blaming his actions on the "creaking" noise coming from his flat.

The man has however indicated that he is unable to remember the entire sequence of events.

According to a statement released by prosecutor Pernilla Åström, the man said he felt bothered by the noise and armed himself with a large knife before ringing the bell on his neighbour’s door.

He proceeded to stab the 19-year-old repeatedly. The young man later died in the building’s stairwell from his injuries.

After the stabbing, the 39-year-old made his way to the Blekinge Institute of Technology, where he worked. He then sent an email to the local Sydöstran newspaper explaining what he had done and where he was.

He requested that someone from the newspaper alert the police.

But no one from the Sydöstran’s editorial offices read the email until after the 39-year-old had already been spotted by another employee at the university, who in turn called police.

The man, who had barricaded himself in a room at the university, was later arrested without incident and subsequently admitted to killing the 19-year-old.

dare to make noise again?

This would be a good time to remind people that you are under no obligation to open your door to anyone and if you do not already have it as personal policy, you should make it so that you do not open your door for people you do not know. Same goes with your telephone, if you don't recognize the number you are under no obligation to answer it, no matter who may be calling you.

This is an insult. So anyone can be killed . After all S/he will be sent to a psychiatrist?? SVERIGE has done it again.

@darky

Do you think you should go to prison for breaking your leg also? Maybe you need to see a psychiatrist.

According to alternate sources: It was not the victim, Jonathon Bergström, who made the offending noise(s), as Bergström had also complained of noise in an SMS text; The murder weapon was a bayonet; The murderer, Anders Johnsson, who has been deemed psychotic and autistic (Aspergers Syndrome), called SOS after the murder and confessed to the dispatcher; Johnsson worked and studied at the Institute of Technology.

(And fyi also in the Blekinge news, SOS refused three times to send an ambulance to a man with chest pain. The man finally received assistance from a neighbor who took him to a vårdcentral, where the man died. SOS has of course been reported…)

So, so sad - and sad as well that many people also do not have access to adequate psychiatric care because the government chooses to ignore these needs and deny funding.

If your neighbor is making too much noise, I definitely do not recommend MURDERING him or her in order to resolve the situation! That seems like an exaggerated response. No matter how noisy they are.

The man will be punished by making him hear loud music during three years in a row. Then, he will be send to Mallorca to enjoy some holidays and then, and only then, he will come back home ready to kill someone else. Swedish system at its peak.

What is the value of a Swedes life? Not very much according to the Swedish justice system. By almost eliminating the consequences of murder in the name of mercy the justice system shows no mercy to the victims, past, present, and future. Swedes take your country back.
