Police in Örebro in central Sweden are hunting for a woman who reportedly brandished a bow and fired an arrow at group of teenagers.

The incident took place late Monday night near the Adolfbergs school, the local Nerikes Allehanda newspaper reports.

According to police, the group of teens reported how a woman “wearing strange, old clothes” approached them in the playground and prodeeded to pull out a bow and several metal-tipped arrows.

As the youngsters watched in disbelief, the woman then placed an arrow in the bow and fired at them from close range, prompting them to flee the area.

“There was a group of us who ran into her while we were on our bicycles and I saw her walking by. I reacted over the fact that she had a bow under her arm and thought it was strange,” a witness told the newspaper.

Police continue to search for the woman, having received a number of tips during the day on Tuesday.

“I've never experienced a case like this and haven't heard of anything like it either,” police investigator Malin Nilsson told news website Nyheter24.

One theory being considered by investigators is that the mystery archer, described as being between 20- and 40- years-old, may have been involved in some sort of fantasy or roll-playing game.

Speaking to Nerikes Allehanda on Wednesday, Nilsson said she was “hopeful” police would succeed in finding and apprehending the woman following a steady stream of tips from members of the public.

If it's the woman in the Maplethorpe photo, she can attack me anytime she wants to.

She can attack me too and I would not mind what to do with her because I might have forgotten my "Hos to Do It" manual. I can still speak a good deal of French.

LOL....fantasy or roll playing game.the readers are supposed to proof read everyday.

good job by the investigators to guess the age between 20 and 40 years? with stream of tips from "members of the public".

@andyron2

Between 20 and 40 years means that she was not between 10 and 80 years. Are you still not used to what I have begun calling the new The Local guidelines of good journalism? The Local staff of writers have never read "Write Right! from Jan Venolia, one of the best-sellers of all times to learn how to write a little bit less bad?

Yes J.L...im getting used to the guideline slowly.forgive me this time.

Forgive me but in English 'roll playing' should be 'role playing'

'roll' means to roll like a barrel 'role' is to play a part in a play etc.

00:01 August 4, 2011 by blondelover
roll ha ha ha ha ha ..............!! Well I think she is aiming my heart :)
00:52 August 4, 2011 by conboy
There is usually a painted hole at the centre of the target - I am afraid you have jumped to an unhappy conclusion. Personally I prefer happy conclusions!
09:44 August 4, 2011 by J. L. Belmar
@blondlover #13

Then, she would be aiming to your hole.
12:41 August 5, 2011 by conboy
You mean like the bird in the black and white Robert Mapplethorpe picture on the side bar she appears to be aiming at two normatively, sexually challenged men - thanks for the thought but it sounds unpleasent and uncomfortable as I said before I prefer happy conclusions.

I think it was that sort of time travel. This girl is clearly not just appeared there. Unfortunately there is not even recording to examine it in detail. It really looked like in medieval times?
