Never lose hope. It may have been one of the most tragic news I have read here in Sweden but we got to believe in ourselves and believe that other people still have compassion in them.
We should also consider the "small town" flavor of Swedish news. Relatively isolated incidents start to feel like patterns of behaviour... I think part of it is in that names are never given, so every repeated news article feels like a new crime, and because every news source carries the same stories, so we read them over and over... and there just isn't much else interesting to read about!
The next thing is to J Jack, i have 2 kids of my own and i understand you, but like Grindsport says, where is a safe place? if you stop to think about it. Im from the Uk living in the place it happened, and yet now there are kids playing outdoors again, having fun etc, so for a few weeks every one was worried but now its getting back to normal. I dont feel uneasy or unsafe here and i wouldnt worry too much about my kids playing here, although the way they do things over here is a bit different, theres not always a parent around since its a huge apartment complex. And this is to NataBee, as im from the UK and living in Sweden i can see that swedish people say things differently, they have to take time to think about the words etc, the way the are said, and some words dont even translate. If your not speaking your natural language then you cant expect to be perfect, but as long as it makes sense to most people who cares??
