So now even animals have nationality?
Why don't you just say "elks".
On the other side of the pond they call the Elk (Alces alces) a Moose and the less common Wapiti (Cervus canadensis) an Elk.
However I concur, the Eurasian Elk has no knowledge of it's nationality and is more than not, unlikely to make jokes about the intelligence of Norwegian Elk.

I think you might refer to "immigrant" elks and not "Swedish" elks, that the article describes. As we all know by now, the "immigrant" elks are usually responsible for the increased crime levels in Sweden. ;)
Or maybe the elks in the article were "immigrant" elks after all? Only those who obtained Swedish passport? Did the reporter check their status? ;)
