Well I'm sure they are all highly educated and will be valuable members of society that will contribute to the tax base and increase economic output. After all, a country would be insane to bring in people that will not add to the overall health and welfare of its own population. Sweden is not insane is it?

Sweden seems to have been getting 30,000+ asylum seekers consistently every year for the last few years now.

In 2010 according to Eurostat, Sweden had 31,875 asylum seekers, the only EU countries that had more were Germany at 48,490 and France at 52,725. This is especially interesting since Germany has about 9 times the population of Sweden and France approximately 7 times. The UK, which has between 6 to 7 times the population of Sweden actually had fewer asylum seekers (23,715).

Just to compare with the rest of the Nordic Countries, Sweden had 31,875 asylum seekers in 2010 vs. 10,025 for Norway, 5,070 for Denmark, 3,090 for Finland and 35 for Iceland (Iceland's data is for 2009).

Perhaps the best example of all this is Södertälje, which has taken in more asylum seekers from Iraq than Canada and the United States combined, even though Canada and the United States have 340+ million people combined vs. Södertälje's approx. 65,000.

What about repairing the heaps of Pothole all around town? We are bringing in people with archaic ideology and who will never integrate into any European society? There are other wealthier nations like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and most of the gulf countries which could shoulder the responsibility of assisting "these socially displaced individuals" This madness have to stop. Migrationsverket are actually saying that they expect a total of 174000 immigrants from mainly Somalia and Afghanistan this year. 34000 asylum seekers and the rest they class as family/dependents/relatives and some they call jobseekers. And knowing a little about Migrationsverkats previous estimations we can safely add another 20% to the 174000 I think. Like a lottery win for Sweden.

As I can't say dirty words, i will say nothing.

In general, its hard to find a more worthless group of people than Somalis.

I think it's unethical and a gross abuse of human rights and power for Sweden to serially neglect the sick and elderly, leaving people to suffer and die, so that the State may instead buy (import, house, feed, clothe, educate, etc.) laborers.

And as others have said, where's Saudi charity? The Saudis are pumping millions into U.S. universities for Islam theology. Surely then there should be money to help their brothers and sisters in need, eller? Haven't the Saudis built mosques in Sweden? Why don't they build and furnish apartments or schools, hospitals, etc. as well or instead? What do the wealthy Islamic states do for refugees and asylum seekers? Do they take in Buddhists, Christians, Hindu, and all other varieties of faith like Western nations?

I have no problem people saying that in non-Swedish websites. I am afraid some people here are expressing their views based on the rat-holes they are living in. In Sweden with its glorifying freedom of speech, such views and approach are considered backward and inhuman expressed by very uneducated people. So then people here will argue if education system has provided high standards education for that person or not!

I come from India to study (do my masters here). I was working in Microsoft India,left the job to Masters@Kth.

At the end of 2years,I find no hope in getting a good job( Applied for dozens of companies,all rejected).

It seems that only people from muslim countries /africa/west asia are wanted in sweden where govt is giving them benefits while hindus,buddhist from asia are not even given fair chance.

You might also want to consider moving to Canada as well. Canada has always been (generally speaking) more stable than the USA and is always looking for well-educated immigrants. You are confusing two completely different issue! Sweden admits refugees based on humanitarian and moral grounds but Swedish companies are private and they do not give jobs based on humanitarian grounds! So the comparison of these two is completely irrelevant.

You said you a second year year Master's student. You haven't yet finished your studies and you expect a job right now?! You may need to spend half a year to one year to find a suitable job in Sweden especially if you cannot speak Swedish. It is common sense that a 9 millions population country offers less jobs than other bigger countries.

Yes! Many Iranians especially those living abroad are non-religious. I find religion a personal matter as long as peopel avoid enforcing their beliefs on others. And yes I think India has a much higher economic growth and also lower Human Development Index than Iran but I find it totally irrelevant in this context I'm afraid.

Well I'm sure you have good experience but are sure that there weren't similar Swedish speaking candidate for that job?! Even though the work may not need any language skill but an employer considers it in a bigger perspective. Given the anonimity of this site, I would be curious to know in slightly greater detail the medical catastrophe that cost you so much in terms of health and money, not out of morbid curiosity, but more as a cautionary tale.

For example, am curious to know if you had an ultra rare condition that the doctors here did not diagnose quickly enough, or something far more common (say 1 in a thousand) that they should have known how to treat, and been equipped to treat.

On the issue of immigration itself, I continue to ask if there is a master economic plan (I am not good at navigating Swedish government websites, so if anyone can share a link, even in Swedish, this would be appreciated) that would justify the numbers.

I will add that asking for the master economic plan (how do the numbers mesh Sweden's needs in terms of skilled, semi-skilled, unskilled labour) is not a form of racism, only common sense.

I'm extremely sorry to hear that.

First of all I'm also among those who pay much of my income for tax in Sweden and I have also experienced the bad emergency service of Swedish hospitals so I'm not in a totally different track. The standards of service is on average very very low let alone exceptional cases but I don't think it is a deliberate failure. It is due to very slow 'Decision to Action' process in higher level of decision making in Sweden. I think all political parties in Sweden have recognized that and they will try to get points for that so I'm hopeful that they will take action soon.But there is one more point here. We shouldn't let our anger to make a conclusion. In a country where I come from any problem that exist is blamed on other groups of people either refugees from Afghanistan or sanctions from the US etc and they also provide some concrete evidences to prove that but sadly some naive and angry people believe such things and start blaming those targets instead of addressing real responsibilities of government!! So political parties who blame other groups or countries are not those who solve the problem. They just help to relieve angry people!! Now I am sure even if that amount of money that goes for refuge in Sweden is redirected to health care the problem will not be solves! So we should be logical and avoid being trapped by populism tricks!

People are waking up to the facts across Europe and it will change, but these things take time. Allah has blessed me with riches both in material wealth and family wealth. I m not against other immigrants ;I only meant to make the immigration policy more transparent,competitive rather than bring in people who will never be able to integrate properly.
