Crowds march against anti-Semitism in Malmö

Published: 21 Oct 12 10:03 CET | Print version
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/43950/20121021/

Some 300 people joined a demonstration in solidarity with the Jewish population in Malmö on Saturday after a spate of recent attacks.

Glorious sunshine greeted the march. Many of the demonstrators were dressed in the Jewish head covering known as a Kippa.

Among those taking part were Malmö mayor Ilmar Reepalu, who has previously been criticised for comments on anti-Semitism in the city.

Integration minister Erik Ullenhag was the keynote speaker at the destination of the march on Möllevångstorget in central Malmö.

The minister condemned the recent attacks on the Jewish community and announced a 500,000 kronor ($76,000) grant by the government to the Swedish Committee Against Antisemitism (SKMA).

The money will be used for a new initiative in Malmö schools in a bid to address the problems faced by the city's Muslim and Jewish populations.

"The role of schools in the work against xenophobia and intolerance can not be overemphasized," Ullenhag said.

The march, which began at the synagogue on Föreningsgatan, featured representatives from all of Sweden's five official national minorities - Jews, Roma, Sami, Swedish Finns and Tornedalers.

Hate crimes in Malmö have become a common feature of recent news reporting with a spate of attacks on synagogues and mosques over the past decade.

Wow!! Quite the glorious gesture from the Swedish govt. which has allowed hundreds on thousands of people who are guilty of this so-called, "anti-semetic violence" into the country imports unto itself every single for year for over two decades now. It;s no huge, intellectual stumbling block as to why 10% of the population now support Sverigedemokraterna. You should also.

""The role of schools in the work against xenophobia and intolerance can not be overemphasized," Ullenhag said."

Yes, the hatred against Sweden and the Swedes goes deep. That's what Mr Ullenhag meant, wasn't it?

Any muslims spotted in that march?

Sweden and many western countries will allow racist, anti-western, anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, anti-gay, anti-Caucasian, anti-freedom mobs to come into our countries but attack anyone who thinks it's not a good ideal to permit such people to come. How twisted have our societies become.

"The money will be used for a new initiative in Malmö schools in a bid to address the problems faced by the city's Muslim and Jewish populations."

In those countries which have not yet swayed so far as Sweden into the realms of political correctness, we see that where statistics are kept, people of White European descent tend to make up a percentage of victims of violent crime disproportionately higher to their numbers than other groups: one might think any honest attempt to address race based or ethnic tensions in Malmö might also address the concerns of ethnic Swedes too.

-- in a bid to address the problems faced by the city's Muslim and Jewish populations.--

Exactly what problems do Muslims face in Malmö? For the most part it's their city now.
09:35 October 22, 2012 by rise
"For the most part it's their city now."

Yes and I don't think the Swedish kings from the 17th century would have liked that very much but called the Stockholm politicians traitors instead.

The battles over Skåne between the Danes and the Swedes still is among the world's bloodiest, with around 50% losses on both sides. Losses that high never have been very common.

To now freely give Skåne to the muslims is to spit on the fallen troops graves, Danish as well as Swedish.

100,000 people marched in palestine to protest attrocities committed against them by jews. The jews responded by killing them all and taking their land.

The jews then complained to the UN about the anti semetic march and demanded the people in Gaza apologise as they have never had it so good.
10:49 October 22, 2012 by Uncle
snilingjack

You got it wrong.

1 million palestinian children were peacefully sitting in lotus positions with lone tears in their eyes, while evil Swedish Jews were walking among them and beheading each and every one of them. Then their blood was used for Passover food and organs for backing up the current organs that all Jews have. So in fact all Jews have 2 livers, 2 hearts and 4 kidneys (in case of failure).

Then Jews complained to the UN that the streets became all dirty of blood and palestinians were made to clean it, which they did, while peacefully grieving. Then they got also executed by Jews. Then palestinians apologized for everything, as they usually do.

What a horror!

You have to understand the history of the Jews of Malmo. They have been living there for centuries and they have contributed in a positive way to the economy and well being of their city. So yes. They own houses and business in the occupied land of Malmo and I dont think you will find any Jew becoming a drain to society while living of social welfare. The Jews in Malmo are like the Hobbits and the radicals are like the Orcs ;-)

By reading your comments, what i see is that "Swedes are not racists" is a myth. Many are , they just do not talk about it.
12:57 October 22, 2012 by shard

There are very few swedes on the local, but plenty of racists. Many of the breivik boys' brigades members here openly admit to never having even step foot in sweden, which makes their presence on this board all the more curious. They certainly don't participate to spread their love of their fellow human being, as - see above - they are mostly bitter little keyboard warriors, scared of their own shadows.

Off you go, boys, time for your meds. Oh, and don't forget to sing the BBB hymn. :)

I just wonder how many muslims are... muslims and worship Allah with his prophet Mohammad? How many muslims have relatives in islamic countries? The ones that occupied the normal countries, imposed their ideology, oppressed the women and executed every minority... Just wonder.

I am a racist. You are a racist. Always will be - in the eyes of the politically correct whom constantly and systematically projects "bad" behaviour of their own on other people.

What's a racist anyway? In Sweden the word began to loose its meaning already 20 years ago. Hypocrite lefties began using it as a tool of disarming other people to easily win an argument. Today EVERYthing is racism. Personally I don't care about the word since it doesn't mean anything anyway.
16:33 October 22, 2012 by smilingjack
what next. jewish people being captured tasered, beaten and arrested for trying to visit their relaitives or, perish the thought, trying to leave malmo. how dare they think they should be able to move freely. just doesnt make sense.

Still haven't seen Shard come close to posting a solid argument for his/her position."

When you don't have a solid argument, you play the race card.

It's been my experience, that the ones who cry racism at every turn, are racist to the core.

I was at the march. It was a great day. Reepalu has finally figured out that his constituents aren't going to let him Jew-bait for votes anymore.

"By reading your comments, what i see is that "Swedes are not racists" is a myth. Many are , they just do not talk about it."

Dont be so judge-mental. Swedish people, like the people commenting on here are no more inherently racist than any other group of people on the planet.

But speaking for myself I am sick and tired of seeing posters like that one underneath you telling Swedish people and other native Europeans that their cultures, values, genetics, histories, unique identities etc are not worth peanuts and that all these things should be traded in for multiculturalism and to resist this means to guilt trip people into feeling "racist".

If you can find one other group of people on this whole planet that would willingly trade in their culture, their country, their values and their identity for multiculturalism then I would be surprised.

And in case you did not notice, it is always Swedish people and other Europeans that are routinely blamed for all the racism in our modern day multiculturalist societies, racial and cultural conflict is never considered the fault of non-Europeans in the eyes of our hypocritical media. Hence an explanation as to why you see so much "racism" in threads like this.

"Everyone's a little bit racist

It's true.

But everyone is just about

As racist as you!

If we all could just admit

That we are racist a little bit,

And everyone stopped being

So PC

Maybe we could live in -

Harmony!"

I realize Sweden was trying to do the right thing by taking in all those Muslims, but it has really backfired into a real mess. It looks like in the future Swedish culture will be a thing of the past and that would be a crime.

As a Swede, I thank you for those words.
22:27 October 24, 2012 by shard
@ ramshead, what sort of Swedish culture aspects do you envisage disappearing from the scene?

@ rise, don't worry, you are not alone here in not caring about wearing the badge of racist.

@dick. Practically every your finger hits a key on your keyboard, you make my case for me. I suppose I'm kinda lazy like that, letting you show the world how you live up to your username.

@bcterry, come on, surely you can do better than;

"you're a racist"

"no, *you're* a racist, narny narny nah naaaah"

Or perhaps you really are still in school

@ freedays, you make an interesting point of debate, though perhaps accidentally. I'm not sure who here is arguing for subverting any culture, or tradition. I for one applauded the recent move to permit a nativity scene to continue at some market or another in Sweden. I'm not personally superstitious, and so the nativity scene, or cross, or what have you, hold no more significance to christmas than Coca-Cola's bearded red-suited patriarchal figure. I don't believe many swedes are superstitious either, and it seems statistics bear this out. However, it would be indeed unfortunate for things like that to be lost from the surroundings, much as we might regret any embargo on fireworks on new years eve, or schnapps at midsummer parties.

So I think we can agree, provided none of us are breaking the law, and are not out to intend to antagonise one another, we (for the most part) should be allowed to do what we like, particularly in our own homes, or communities.

That however is not what the anti-immigrant voices here shriek. They want all the dark-skinned people out, regardless of contribution to society. Yet they are strangely silent on the white-skinned immigrants, which some of them themselves no doubt are.

And therein lies the definition of racism.

As for the bad apples, send em back home, white brown pink or purple.

As for the many commentators who hail from Israel - shalom! - you should be careful who choose for bedfellows in your activities. A lot of the types here would have been more than passive members of the Sturmabteilung in a different age. And who do you think the current generation will turn on once the muslims are gone?

You disrespect the memories of your forebears in allying yourselves with these people, and worse, adopting the language you have. They would be ashamed of you, if only they had lived through a different era of bigoted hatred.

Fortunately the well-respected reputation for reasoned and rational discourse of the jewish intellectual is not dead, and there are still such voices on these boards, though I sometimes wonder if they fail to post so often through their embarrassment at your presence.
19:28 October 25, 2012 by smilingjack
or sweden could try some of these jewish policies.

no votes for jews.

segregate them.

ban them from public transport etc.

they seem to think its fine?

What does the small 400 years old Jewish comunity of Malmo ,has to do with the state of Israel and its political decisions?these are Sweds who vote to the Swedish government, living for generations in Malmo, they do not live in Israel and do not vote for the Israeli government,

It seems it is easy to take it with an old Jewish Rabbi who walks to the Synagouge on Saterday or devasteting Jewish stones in a graveyard in Malmo ,then to protest in front of the Israeli embassy in Sweden.

"That however is not what the anti-immigrant voices here shriek. They want all the dark-skinned people out, regardless of contribution to society."

BS! Politically correct lefties knows very well it has nothing to do with skin color. However they cry "racists" the very second someone utter some complaint about ISLAM or Islamic BEHAVIOUR. It will silence most complaints - leaving the cry of racism an important instrument of power!

Freedom of religion, in Sweden? HA!

so in sweden we are the recipe of all the non european want to be immigrants ?

if we dont support that we are guilty ? of course

are we supposed to defend so lonely causes ? and if not we are guilty ?

hope some day sweden will be given back from the hands of all the outsiders who now have caght it

but what can an weak mind swede do against so determined fanatics

Comment: jonathon. it has everything to do with malmo. in australia all jews are urged to complain non stop about anything that affects them. webpages are setup with instruction on how to bombard every council, politician and media outlet. are there specific anti muslim laws? not in australia. but we have specific jewish courts! sick of hearing jews whine endlessly about being discriminated against. in australia they wanted to change local planning laws to make them comply with their old testament. when it was rejected we got the same old - your anti semetic. no we aren't. if your so retarded you cant leave your house on sunday seek psychiatric help! we are sick of whinging jews who live in enclaves ( who despise EVERY no jew ) trying to change local laws to suit themselves whilst in the process of ethnic cleansing every non jew from israel. the lies and hypocrisy coming from the jews has everyone fed up. eventually the entire world will be one people with hopefully religion eradicated. the sooner people realise this and get on with life the better off we all will be. Imagine there's no heaven. Its easy if you try. Imagine all the people living life in peace.

I was competly wrong, you are not an anti Israeli person but an anti semitic and racist and it explains your hostile attitude versus Jews, I really do not know what is going on in Australia it is too far from my country, but this way of thinking explain how the holocaust was possibile, and how after this terribile historical event there are still evil people who add oil to the anti semitic fire in order to keep it alive.

About the need to have a psychiater help ,yes we have here many victims old people who their families were mascared before their eyes during the 2WW,take in account that people who were in the same ideas as yoiu have about Jews are responsabile for that sickness.

We are here in Israel to stand firm against all your enemies and the enemies of the Jewish people, and yes no more we charge an high price from those who wish to hit us.
