Oil leaking from stranded vessel outside Gotland
Two ships were stranded near Gotland in the bad weather on Tuesday. One cargo vessel carrying 970 tonnes of raw oil and 250 tonnes of diesel has parts of its cargo currently leaking in to the sea outside the coast of Gotland.
The coast guard is trying to clean up the area by emptying punctured tanks to avoid further oil leakage and no lives were in danger at the cargo ship, as reported by Expressen on Wednesday.
10 sailors were taken off another boat which ran aground two kilometers from Gotland.
However, a 23 year old Polish man died when the Norwegian-registered tug boat he was on capsized, also near Gotland. His five colleagues were rescued.
