Over 27,000 new companies were formed in the first seven months of the year, bringing the total since July 2004 to 56,000. That is a considerable rise compared to the previous ten years.

But according to Swedish Radio, the majority of these companies are operated part-time, or as an addition to another job. On average, the 41,000 companies which were started in 2004 had only 1.6 employees, including the owner.
