Back to prison for Lindh killer
Mijailo Mijailovic, who last year was found guilty of murdering Sweden's former foreign minister Anna Lindh, is to be transferred out of psychiatric care and back into Kumla prison.
"Our doctors have now decided that Mijailovic is no longer in need of psychiatric care," said Erik Söderberg, the head of the clinic in Sundsvall where Mijailovic has been treated for the last month.
Mijailovic recently stated via his lawyer that he did not feel safe at the clinic and that he specifically wanted to go back to Kumla. But during his time at the clinic he apparently attacked a man in his 60s, seriously injuring him. The incident is being investigated by the police.
In the last year, several serious incidents and crimes have taken place behind the walls of the Sundsvall clinic. Mijailovic's assault on the older man happened in the highest security part of the clinic at around 3am on a Wednesday evening at the end of September.
Social welfare minister Ylva Johansson has declared herself dissatisfied with the quality of security in psychiatric clinics and is said to be planning a tightening of the law.
