81 year old Swede facing 10 year jail term

An 81 year old Sundsvall man who stabbed his wife to death should be sentenced to ten years in prison, demanded prosecutor Lisa Eriksson at the trial on Friday.
The man admitted that he murdered his wife but his defence lawyer argued that the attack was not premeditated and that he should only be found guilty of manslaughter.
The defence lawyer also said that his age should be taken into consideration by the court when the sentence is handed down.
But Lisa Eriksson said that there were no mitigating circumstances for the attack after more than 50 years of marriage. The 84 year old woman tried to escape but her husband stabbed her more than 20 times.
The verdict is expected on 14th October.
