Union slams AMS and sets up own job agency

Dissatisfaction with Sweden's state unemployment agency AMS has led a union to start its own employment agency.

The Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers (CF) says that AMS has shown itself to be incapable of helping graduates to find jobs.

"Our members have needs that cannot be met by today's job centres," said CF's director Richard Malmborg.

CF says it will run the project together with international recruitment giant Manpower and financial group SalusAnsvar.

According to Malmborg, the new venture was only founded after "years of fruitless attempts to get AMS to improve its support to engineers."

The new agency will initially only be open to CF members in Sweden's main cities, although the union says it will expand the programme in 2007.
