Wealth gap grows between ministers

Ministers are careless with how they report their ownership of stocks and shares - and the 'class divide' between individual ministers is increasing. That's the conclusion of research into ministers' wealth carried out by Svenska Dagbladet.

Culture minister Leif Pagrotsky is the richest with a fund portfolio totalling around 6.7 million kronor. That is more than all the other 21 ministers together. During his time as minister he has sold off his privately held shares to avoid conflicts of interest.

Five ministers - minister for sustainable development Mona Sahlin, justice minister Thomas Bodström, employment minister Hans Carlsson, equality minister Jens Orback and local government minister Sven-Erik Österberg - declared that they held no shares or funds.

Several ministers had not updated their details recently despite a requirement to declare their holdings.
