A woman has been badly injured after her car crashed on highway 263 between Märsta and Sigtuna, north of Stockholm, at lunchtime today.

It appears the woman tried to do a u-turn to drive back towards Märsta when the accident happened. A taxi crashed in to the side of her car and hit the driver's door.

The woman had to be cut loose from the wreck of the car and was taken by helicopter to Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset in Solna. The taxi driver escaped with minor injuries.
