Raft man's identity still a mystery

The authorities are just as puzzled now as they were a week ago by the man found floating on a raft off the Swedish coast. His identity remains a mystery despite several interviews, finger prints and help from the US embassy.

"We've had another interview with him today, but he didn't say anything he hasn't said before," said police spokeswoman, Anna Rosenberg, to TT on Thursday.

The man speaks British English with an accent and has claimed that he applied for a US work permit when he was in London.

A photo of the man has been studied by officials at the US embassy, but the claim has been discounted as there's no picture of him in the Americans' database.

The raftman's finger prints have been sent to Interpol and forwarded to police authorities in a number of other countries.
