Pernod Ricard 'could buy' Absolut
Pernod Ricard said it could be interested in buying Absolut vodka, were it to be put up for sale by the new Swedish government.
The French group would feel obliged to at least examine the details of any sale because of Absolut's size, managing director Pierre Pringuet was quoted as saying by the Financial Times.
The new centre-right government said it will sell state holdings in various companies.
According to Lehman Brothers, a privatisation of Vin och Sprit, the owner of Absolut, is likely within 12 months.
