Neighbour starts petition against Maj eviction
A neighbour of an 83-year old Sundsvall woman threatened with eviction has started a petition for her to be allowed to stay.
Maj Holmblad, who has Parkinson's disease, was told she would have to leave her owner-occupied apartment in Sundsvall after she was late three times in paying her monthly fee. The 83-year old woman - who has lived in the flat for 65 years - has spent extended periods in hospital and old people's homes in recent years.
"She has the right to live out her final years here," said neighbour Emiko Svensson to TV4 news.
On Friday the board that controls Holmblad's building, which is part of the national HSB housing association, confirmed the eviction decision, despite criticism in the press and from HSB's national chairwoman. HSB sent the board a letter asking them to change their decision.
Holmblad is due to be evicted on Tuesday.
