The managing director of Företagarna, Sweden's Federation of Private Enterprises, Gunvor Engström, will leave her post within a few weeks. The decision was announced after Monday's national board meeting.

"We have agreed that I should leave at the end of the year," Engström told TT.

The mission of Företagarna, is to promote the interests of entrepreneurs in Sweden. It is not a political organisation but was fiercely critical of many policies of the last Social Democrat government.

The cause of Engström's departure is a difference of opinion over how centralised the organisation, which has 325 separate boards around the country, should be.

"It's hard to be managing director of such an organisation," said Engström.
