Most incoming flights up to 17:55 were diverted to Stockholm Arlanda. One flight - a Ryanair service from London Stansted - was diverted to Norrköping. Flights out of Skavsta were cancelled.

At 8:25pm five evening flights had been cancelled, with no information regarding the remaining four services. The cancelled flights were to Warsaw, London Stansted, Gdansk, Milan and Frankfurt Hahn.

The airport said the fault has caused its telephone system to crash, and advised travellers to consult live departure boards on its website.

In a message posted on its website, it said it expected the problem to be solved by 11pm on Tuesday, and for services on Wednesday morning to run as normal.
