Pärson wins gold in Åre

Sweden's Anja Pärson won the women's super-combined title at the world ski championships in Åre on Friday ahead of America's Julia Mancuso and Marlies Schild of Austria.

It means the 25-year-old Pärson has won her sixth career world title, and the second of the competition after the successful defence of her super-G crown earlier this week.

The super-combined, a reduced version of the combined which features only one slalom after the downhill instead of two, is being held for the first time at world championships level.

It will make its Olympic debut as a race at Vancouver in 2010.
