A young woman found dead in a house in Gothenburg on Thursday night could have been murdered, police say.

The body of the woman, who was in her twenties, was found in the house in the Frölunda district of the city at about 1am.

"Police were called by friends of the woman who had not hear from her for a while. Circumstances at the scene led officers to suspect foul play," said police spokesman Frans Dahlén.

Nobody had been arrested by early Friday morning. Police say they are treating the death as murder.
