Scout leader arrested for sex crimes

The leader of a scout group in Halland in western Sweden has been arrested on suspicion of having sexually abused young girls at a scout camp.

Police have received reports concerning six girls between the ages of ten and twelve.

Parents of the girls in question reported the man to police after their daughters had spent nights in his care at a scout camp in their home town.

“There is no suggestion that the man had intercourse with the girls or in any other way committed serious abuses. But he is suspected of touching them in a sexual way,” prosecutor Sonja Seligmann told newspaper Hallandsposten.

The scout leader, who himself has a family with children, is suspected of having molested girls on several occasions over the last two years.
