Thailand appears to be on the verge of buying six Swedish JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets, according to the Bangkok Post.

The newspaper quoted "a source" who said that on Wednesday the government gave the go-ahead for six of the twelve planes expected to be bought over the next five years.

But on Thursday the details had still not been confirmed in official quarters, reported Swedish Radio.

The Thais' previous plans to buy Russian jets have been abandoned in favour of the lighter JAS 39 Gripen, wrote the Bangkok Post.

The deal is said to be worth up to 3.6 billion Swedish kronor.

The ‘fairytale’ boarding school nestled in a Swedish village

The words ‘boarding’ and ‘school’ often summon images of strict teachers, drab dormitories and downcast children. That image couldn’t be further from reality at Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket (SSHL), where boarders describe the ‘fairytale’ school as a home away from home.
