Swedish newspaper group for sale
Media company Dalarnas Tidningar is to be put up for sale. Owned by brothers Lennart and Sten Bengtsson, the company consists of five central Swedish newspapers: Borlänge Tidning, Mora Tidning, Södra Dalarnes Tidning, Nya Ludvika Tidning and Falu-Kuriren.
Dalarnas Tidningar has been run by the Bengtsson family for 75 years, but the brothers have not been able to interest any of their children in taking over control of the firm.
"It has been a difficult decision since the company has been in the family since 1932 but I'm not at all concerned about the future. The company has good operative management and strong finances," Lennart Bengtsson told Dalarnas Tidningar's online edition.
Dalarnas Tidningar AB has 245 employees and posted a turnover last year of 280 million kronor ($42 million) as well as a pre-tax profit of 40 million kronor.
