Girl dies after accidental shooting

A 9-year-old girl in western Sweden has died after she was accidentally shot in the head with a biathlon rifle on Thursday evening. The shot was fired by the girl's 15-year-old brother in Torsby in northern Värmland.
"He had the weapon in his hand and for some reason a shot went off, which hit his little sister in the head. We have no suspicions that a crime may have taken place. It was purely an accident," said police spokesman Bjarne Andersson.
After the accident, the girl was taken to Ullevål Hospital in Oslo, where she later died.
