Plastic surgeon 'had sex with staff'
A 53-year-old plastic surgeon convicted of rape told the Court of Appeal in Malmö on Wednesday that he had sexual relations with two employees and a patient at the clinic where he worked, Sydsvenskan reports.
It was the first time that the surgeon, Carl Troilius, claimed to have had consensual sex with employees, both of whom he named in court.
Troilius was convicted in September of raping a 23-year-old patient while she was under anesthetic during the treatment of her bikini line.
At the initial district court hearing, Troilius said that he had masturbated after injecting himself with testosterone and that his sperm had been found on the woman after he had washed his hands. He now claims however that the patient agreed to have sex with him in exchange for a cut-price breast operation.
Prosecutor Bo Albrektsson said that the surgeon's new version of events had "absolutely no credibility".
"The way he describes it, he almost makes it sound like he was seduced," Albrektsson told Sydsvenskan.
When convicted, Troilius was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and ordered to pay 180,000 kronor in damages.
Two lay judges felt the rape was so brutal they wanted a longer sentence for the surgeon, who has denied all accusations.
Between courts, Troilius changed lawyers and his story. According to his new attorney, Helene Ek-Sederholm, he never forced himself on the woman.
