A 24 year-old man has been sentenced six and a half years in jail for three rapes and three attempted rapes in the Stockholm area.

The crimes took place between autumn 2007 and January 2008.

Most of the victims were attacked on their way home from a night out. One victim was caught on camera leaving a night bus with the man.

Three days after a particularly brutal rape in Flemingsberg, the man was arrested, tracked down through his mobile phone. The rapist had taken one of his victims' mobile number and repeatedly texted her, allowing the police to trace his whereabouts.

Because of extensive DNA proof in five of the six rapes it was a straightforward case for prosecutor Nils Lundberg.

The man is not a Swedish national and will be deported after serving his sentence.
