Police have announced that the man found dead last Tuesday in Marnästjärn i Ludvika was Jimmy Bäckman, a 22-year-old resident of Ludvika who disappeared mysteriously last November. His identity was confirmed by the medical examiner on Friday.

“We have no comment at present on what else the post-mortem may have revealed,” said police superintendent Hans-Åke Hedin to TT at Falun Police Station yesterday.

The investigating officers have also received a preliminary report on the cause of death but are not prepared to disclose this information for the time being.

On Friday morning, a further person was detained for questioning in connection with the case. The police have refused to say whether the person is a man or a woman, or whether he/she is under suspicion for complicity.

Three men were summoned for questioning last Thursday. Two were released later that evening, but the third, a 23-year-old, was remanded in custody on suspicion of murder. The police believe that several people were involved in Jimmy Bäckman's death, which accounts for the high degree of secrecy surrounding the case at present.
