Near-fatal knifing in Södermalm

A man was taken to hospital early on Saturday morning after being stabbed near the heart in a building in the Södermalm district of Stockholm.
Police say his condition is serious but stable. According to Håkan Westin, chief officer at the Stockholm Police County Response Centre, the assault took place on the seventh floor of a block of flats in Magnus Ladulåsgatan.
“A man with a knife in his hand was arrested on the stairs,” he said. "We don’t know whether the attack was planned. We have a team on the scene and are interviewing witnesses. But in nine cases out of ten the victim and the perpetrator are known to each other," he added.
