Swedish man found dead in Bangkok

A 45-year-old Swedish businessman has been found dead in Bangkok, Thailand, according to media reports.

The man's Thai wife has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The man was found dead in his apartment on Wednesday night, Swedish time.

The man's death was confirmed by the Swedish foreign ministry.

“A Thai police investigation is underway and relatives have been notified,” said foreign ministry spokesperson Anders Jörle to Expressen.

Speaking to Aftonbladet, Jörle described the killing as “some kind of family tragedy”.

The man, who had lived in Thailand for more than twenty years, operated a consultancy which assisted Swedes who were looking to purchase property in Thailand, Aftonbladet reported.

He was very well known in among the Swedish ex-pat community living in Thailand and counted a number of large Swedish companies among his clients.

According to the newspaper, the man was stabbed by his Thai wife following a domestic dispute.
