In brief: Despite coming from a small provincial city, Helsingborg attract a strong local following being the city’s only team. The club has produced more than its fair share of Swedish internationals – the most famous being Henrik Larsson – and continues to churn out talented young players.

They also remain the last Swedish team to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League, after they defeated Inter Milan in 2000. They won the league in 2011, and have a strong rivalry with fellow Skånska side Malmö FF.

Expectations in 2013: With an aging squad, this isn’t likely to be one of their better seasons, and fans will be hoping there will be some younger players willing to step up and replace the veterans.

Players to watch: Pär Hansson, Daniel Nordmark, Alejandro Bedoya and May Mahlangu, will need to carry the team this season.
