Swedish fitness coach to have Owen Wilson's baby

Swedish fitness trainer Caroline Lindqvist has been a staple in the celebrity press recently amid reports she was pregnant with the child of US actor Owen Wilson. This week, she finally spoke out, making the mother-to-be our choice for Swede of the Week.

Lindqvist officially confirmed her pregnancy by Wilson in an exclusive interview with the Aftonbladet newspaper, a story to be published in full on Friday.

The 41-year-old Swede, who works as a personal trainer, is not currently together with the 44-year-old Hollywood megastar.

"Owen and I decided to have a child even though we're not in a relationship," she told the paper. "And we're not planning on starting a relationship, either."

Lindqvist, who reportedly first met Wilson in 2003 and was romantically involved with him for a time, filed for divorce from her doctor husband after the news of her pregnancy broke, but insisted that the separation had nothing to do with the impending arrival.

"Owen and I are two close friends having a baby together," she told the paper. "We are really looking forward to it and can't wait to welcome our child at the end of January."

While Lindqvist has never worked with Wilson in her role as personal trainer, she said that the two were friends and had been for several years.

The Swedish-born Lindqvist first moved to California about 15 years ago and has lived there ever since, save for a two-year stint in New York between 2004 and 2006, according to celebrity blog Wagcelebrity.com.

Owen Wilson is perhaps best known as the on-screen sidekick to US comedian Ben Stiller, with the pair appearing in eight films together including Zoolander, Night at the Museum, and Starsky & Hutch.

Wilson's first child was born to another woman two years ago.

Editor's Note: The Local's Swede of the Week is someone in the news who - for good or ill - has revealed something interesting about the country. Being selected as Swede of the Week is not necessarily an endorsement.
