The five best Swedish songs of the month
The Local's resident music guru Paul Connolly is back with another selection of his favourite Swedish tracks.
1. Ruth Elin – The Storm
Big-boned, teary Swedish blues as incongruous and glorious as a Cadillac towing a snowmobile.
2. Kitok – Paradise Jokkmokk
Northern Swedish hip-hop - jo? There may be a large dollop of novelty at play here but this is a tune!
3. Spiders – Shake Electric
Spiders have hitherto been a little too trad in their love of rock - but this lead track from their forthcoming second album is a guitar-heavy, melodic triumph.
4. Seinabo Sey – Pistols at Dawn
Seinabo Sey’s just starting to make waves across Europe and this slow-burning wannabe James Bond theme could prove to be her breakthrough.
5. Alesso ft Tove Lo – Heroes
Tove Lo is everywhere right now - her brilliant debut album Queen Of The Clouds is just out but there’s no room on it for this instant dancefloor classic.
