Weather: Get ready for a windy and rainy weekend
A chilly Friday will be followed by a weekend of hard wind and rain in Sweden.
Friday brought with it a high pressure front and sun across the country with below-zero temperatures all the way down to the south of Sweden. In the far north temperatures reached as low as -30C.
Although Friday showed quite a lot of sun, the weather will take a turn for the worse on Saturday.
Rain is set to fall in southern Swedish region Götaland and central region Svealand, although parts of the southern Swedish highlands may get some long-awaited snow.
Snow is forecast for northern Svealand and further north.
Sunday is expected to bring hard winds for the south, in Götaland, possibly even gale strength. Precipitation will most likely take the form of rain in south Sweden and southeast Norrland, otherwise snow or sleet.
Along the north of the Norrland coastline, temperatures will start to edge above freezing.
The winds and unsteady weather will continue into early next week.
Temperatures in the far north of Sweden might reach minus 25 to 30 degrees celsius during Friday. Photo: Petr David Josek/TT
