How much could Swedish rents rise next year?
Rises to rents in Swedish properties are decided by agreements between property owners and Sweden's Tenants' Association, Hyresgästföreningen. The first agreement in the Stockholm area has been signed for 2026, where the association and Järfalla municipality have agreed to an increase of 1.5 percent.
Only 5,600 apartments are covered by that agreement, but the association hopes the low figure is a sign that rental prices will only increase slightly this year. The association has also signed a larger agreement in Gothenburg, with a higher increase of 2.9 percent.
Both agreements are much lower than in previous years.
This year, rents rose by 4.7 percent on average, last year the figure was 5 percent, and the year before that it was 4 percent, according to Statistics Sweden. Before that, figures were around 1 to 2 percent per year.

Home Guard to launch more short courses to increase growth
Next year, voluntary military education courses (FMU) will be held in six locations in Sweden, including Härnosand, Lomben, Kosta, Skövde and Skredsvik. The final location has not yet been announced.
The five-week course offers basic military training to volunteers, after which they can be placed in one of the Home Guards' local units. The first course in Härnosand this summer was popular, with 158 volunteers being offered a place. Of those, 20 were women and 138 were men, all aged between 18 and 48.
"We believe there is a large possibility that this could be a good and useful way to fill up our units and contribute towards the wish to defend the country which we see in society," Brigadier General Mattias Ardin said in a press statement.

Teenagers hospitalised in Stockholm after drinking bootleg alcohol
This weekend, a number of teenagers were hospitalised with alcohol poisoning, which the police suspect is due to bootleg alcohol containing isopropyl alcohol, a type of poisonous alcohol used in hand sanitizer and disinfectants. In serious cases, ingesting isopropyl alcohol can cause coma.
A total of twelve teenagers, aged between 13 and 15, have received treatment, with six admitted to hospital.
"They were extremely inebriated and several of them had reduced consciousness," Region Stockholm's head doctor Patrik Söderberg told the TT newswire.
Five people, including one minor, have been arrested on suspicion of selling bootleg alcohol to the teenagers, who said they had drunk alcohol they had bought from a "vodka car" they found via Snapchat.
Swedish vocabulary: fulsprit ‒ literally 'ugly alcohol', more accurately bootleg or tainted alcohol
