This year's carnival involved nearly 9,000 students and is considered one of Sweden's largest volunteer-led events.

More than 100,000 people visited the carnival, which also enjoyed warm and sunny weather, reported local news.

"The general impression is that there were more visitors this year than last time. Overall, it has been peaceful, but the warm weather has contributed to a few people getting rather too tipsy," police spokesperson Patric Fors told TT.

Last time around, in 2022, Lundakarnevalen had a turnover of just over 40 million kronor, and this year's edition – which ran from Friday to Sunday – was expected to turn over roughly the same amount.
