Sweden Democrat targeted in arson attack

Updated: 30 Aug 2011 06:50 GMT+02:00

A Sweden Democrat local politician was targeted in an arson attack at her home in Södermanland south of Stockholm on Monday evening.

"Somebody has thrown something burning through a letter box," said Mikael Ericsson at Sörmlands police.

The fire was extinguished immediately and by the time the emergency services arrived only smoke remained. Police have classified the case as arson or attempted arson.

Frida Grundström, who is a member of the municipal council in Gnesta, was home alone in her apartment when the incident occurred at around 8pm.

"I stood in the kitchen making pizza and had some music on. But then I heard the fire alarm and went out into the hall to see what had happened. When I came out there it was burning on the door and on the floor," Grundström told the Dagens Nyheter (DN) daily.

The apartment has been cordoned off and will be examined by police forensics.

According to the newspaper Grundström has previously been subjected to harassment and assault, and has had a swastika daubed on her front door.

The politician is convinced that the attack had a political motive.

"It is not going to feel safe and secure to return to the apartment when the police have completed their work," Grundström told DN.

This is the wrong way. And attacking a woman crosses the line, anyways. Attacking someone in his/ her own apartment is terror. All this kind of criminal action does, is bringing importance and sympathy to SD. Don't make them martyrs! Don't prove them right! The method to fight against their politicical agenda is given on elections day.

somehow, i smell a false-flag!
09:25 August 30, 2011 by cowboykodp
GH2008;

I hope I am wrong in agreeing with you, but my gut instinct tells me that this is the same tactic used by the Nazi/SD members in the past.

I seem to recall an incident before the elections where one of these pigs carved a swastika on his own forehead, only to be rebutted by doctors that he must have done it himself in front of a mirror, as it was carved backwards.

Nothing is beyond these geniuses.

The sympathy vote got them only 5% in the last election. They should think of other tactics.
10:06 August 30, 2011 by Osk
If it is true its wrong. If false a tactic that will hardly get more votes. But there always has been a simple answer to getting rid of the SD. Openly debate the issues they stand for and take action where the public believes change, if any, needs to take place
10:10 August 30, 2011 by cowboykodp
OSK;

There was no "debate" in the last election because they were not yet in the parliament.

I cant wait until the next election debates. Everyone will see for themselves what complete morons these people really are.
10:37 August 30, 2011 by Rick Methven
@ Osk, cowboykodp

SD are incapable of debate, the moment anybody tries to discuss anything with them in a rational manner or use words of more than one syllable, they either run away or take to violence. The same with all the other extreme right groups in Europe or the USA
13:19 August 30, 2011 by Rey Stockholm
Why is everyone obsessed / afraid of the right wingers - is there a deeper fear about their message.

The commys in a historical context have murdered millions but escape without comment in these pages or people wishing them removed from parliament
13:34 August 30, 2011 by cowboykodp
REY;

Did you not hear?

We already defeated the commies.

SD, Muslim extremists, PVV, Likud, Danish PP and all other right wing nuts are next.
13:34 August 30, 2011 by Osk
Ok Rick, just ignore them then. Immigration issues are sure to go away if you ignore them, issues around identity of any country in Europe are sure to go away if you ignore them, issues people have with religion are also sure to go away if you ignore them. Whether or not the SD can debate them the issue are there and need to be talked about openly.
14:51 August 30, 2011 by London_Jim
@Rick Methven

The fact that no Swedes outside of government (and same in most other European countries) were actually given a choice to vote or participate in an open debate on enforced multiculturalism would indicate that it's not only the SD who are incapable of debate, but the ruling parties/coalitions of the past 20 years also.
16:51 August 30, 2011 by skumdum
There are at least 2 attcks on SD politicians every week but no one seems to care. In fact, Reinfeldt has more or less endorsed violence against SD.

Ah yes, because the red greens are chock full of brilliance. Does this brilliance include not being able to distinguish between a business credit card and personal card (Mona "chicken neck" Sahlin)? The S electorate bought that obvious lie so, I wouldn't be claiming a higher level intelligence in comparison.
20:09 August 30, 2011 by Streja
Violence is never acceptable in political disourse. Debating is good.
01:30 August 31, 2011 by Tysknaden
@London_Jim: You are perfectly right. Multiculturalismn was enforced to the Germans, too - by government.

This does not change my opinion about SD. This freaky party brings - in my opinion - only harm to Sweden and belongs into the trash bin of political history. They did increase tension inside society. They've ruined Swedens international image to a high degree - by their sheer exitence in Swedish parliament. Such thing brings severe economical loss, by the way. They have no solutions. All they have to offer is mindless confrontation and hate. And pretending to be not racist by being hypernationalist is more than a little bit infamous, because in fact this means nothing else than racismn in it's consequential implications and connotations. Those SD people are not even willing to live peaceful with members of their own race. Nice feature.

Some of the proselytes of SD I have encountered, did have severe personal problems with life, to say the least.
02:27 August 31, 2011 by skumdum
@Tysknaden

The immigration policy of SD is more in line with the danish socialdemocrats than anything else. Not extreme at all. Actually, it's the other 7 parties in the swedish parliament that is extreme when it comes to immigration.

I don't know why you think SD is hypernationalist. Maybe you're german and extra sensitive about patriotism but there's nothing wrong to care of own people first.

01:30 August 31, 2011 by Tysknaden

Obviously, prancing about on the international scene is of no import compared to changing the demographics of this country forever and implementing ethnic strife that will never go away. SD did not create any tension whatsoever, merely put the finger on what previous politicians have done. And continue doing.
10:16 August 31, 2011 by Tysknaden
Comment: @skumdum & jostein: Yes, in the western part of Germany they start to train us in not having patriotic feelings at school. By showing films and pictures of heaps of dead bodies to children.

What shocked me about Sweden... was to learn about this general agreement your journalists made with government - to minimize information about hatecrimes against natural borne Swedes. You can have more information in German (and other countries) newspapers and magazines about certain... situations and incidents in certain parts of Malmö and Stockholm, than you will find in Swedish media.

And I am repelled by the tone used in some peoples comments - obviously immigrants - here, at The Local.

Calling 5.7 % (c.a. 340000 people) of the Swedish electorate, pigs and Nazis, what does it make you then, you filthy, multiculti fundamentalist Marxist dreg?
20:36 August 31, 2011 by cowboykodp
@Bob the fatso;

Did I hurt your little feelings.

By the way, I called the SD party member a Nazi pig. Not the "5.7%" who voted for the Nazi pigs. They're just dumb and gullible.

Sometimes the truth hurts....ELLER.

@gh2008 - 09:13 August 30, 2011

"somehow, i smell a false-flag!"

Then you nose is probably too close to your behind! Was it also a false flag op when the Sweden Democrats' press secretary, Martin Kinnunen and his girlfriend, in 2009, were ambushed and beaten at the Gullmarsplan metro station? Luckily for them, it was all caught on the metro surveillance cameras, so that the AFA-trash behind the assault, were caught, convicted and sentenced -or SD-hating socialist drones like you would still today be bleating about false flag ops. People like you and cowboykodp disgust me! You abide by one set of rules, that applies only to you and those that share your political conviction, and a completely different one for all those who dissent. That kind of thinking is not characteristic a democracy but rather typical of a dictatorship, or as in Sweden's case, of a democratur!
20:48 August 31, 2011 by cowboykodp
@bob the fatso;

I disgust you? No big deal.

The truth is you and your SD buddies disgust 94.3% of Swedes.

(For your puny mind that is 100% - 5.7%)

Cool down buddy. Don't do what your buddy in Norway did.

It will all work out in the end.

@cowboykodp - 20:48 August 31, 2011

So tell me, Cowboy Code Pink Whatever! Is it ok in your world, to assault and commit arson against members of the Sweden Democrats Party, because after all, they are to you but Pigs and Nazis? What about her children? Don't you have even an iota of sympathy for her and her family, that have been forced to move twice because of the harassment, and that in spite of been awarded a protected identity, her address has been leaked to the dregs that get a high out of harassing and intimidating her and her children? - I guess not! They must have had it coming, after all she is a member of SD and thus a pig and a Nazi! What do you say COWBOY!?

The far left do not believe in freedom of speech. Never have - never will. The truth is, they are afraid of it! In Britain, most of our most violent destructive demonstrations in London have been from left wing student protesters. They only believe in freedom of speech for people who express views that "they" agree with. If you want to merely question or debate immigration they will happily brand you a racist nazi scumbag.

I always remember a famous quote by Sir Winston Churchill:

"The fascists of the future will be called anti-fascists"

Sums the situation up perfectly I feel :)
00:02 September 2, 2011 by Uncle
It is perfectly clear on which side the violence is.

It is clear who is rioting. Who is cutting off heads. Who is attacking homes with fire and axes (Lars Wilks home). It is clear who is burning the faces of women who fall in love with the incorrect and designated person. It is clear who is targeting civilians. Who has the highest rate of rape per capita. Who has clear trend of violence correlated to the similar population minority in any given country. Who makes their daughters invalids. Who oppresses and attacks minorities on the streets. It is CRYSTAL CLEAR.

Now, they can justify this by calling EVERYONE else racist, nazi, xenophobe and aggressor. They could say this while doing all of the above. It does not make it unclear on whose side the violence is.

Oh, yeah. It is ALSO on the side of single Nazi schizophrenics who do the same as things as the above people do. It is just that the former needs to be sick and the latter GROUP is relatively healthy.

"According to the newspaper Grundström has previously been subjected to harassment and assault, and has had a swastika daubed on her front door.

The politician is convinced that the attack had a political motive."

Sometimes it is the price people pay for bravely standing up and clearly speaking truth to power. To the power elites who mindlessly and militantly pursue a path of multiculturalism over the objections of millions.

Keep the faith Frida Grundström, we're all rooting for you!

Funny how the mud slinging left wing reactionaries on here aren't condemning THIS act of violence.

Just the same dummies repeating themselves... See you at the next election clowns.
