Investment in advertising in Sweden increased by seven percent during the second quarter of 2006 compared to the same period last year.

In total, some 7.8 billion kronor was spent on ads from April to June, according to figures from the Institute for Advertising and Media Statistics (IRM).

Advertising expenditure increased across all types of media, said the Institute. Television, cinema, radio and outdoor advertising all recorded double-digit growth. Morning newspapers experienced slower growth than the market average.

The greatest growth in investment was on the internet, where spending was up 40 percent on the same period last year.
