The Swedish railway (SJ) will cancel the X2000 high-speed train between Malmö and Gothenburg for two weeks beginning on Monday due to a shortage of trains, many of which are out of service for repairs.

“Our fleet has been under pressure due to the snow. A lot of trains are in the shop,” Sven-Ingvar Håkansson, SJ press officer, told Skånska Dagbladet newspaper.

The intercity train (Intercitytågen) and Öresund train (Öresundstågen) will remain in service between Malmö and Gothenburg. The high-speed trains that usually operate between the two cities will run between Gothenburg and Stockholm instead.

“We must use our X2000 (trains) where we have the highest travel volumes and our service between Stockholm and Gothenburg have been under great strain,” Håkansson told Sydsvenskan newspaper.
