Stockholm hotel slammed for sex toys

Berns Hotel in central Stockholm decided to expand the range of items included in the room price from the standard coffee and tea, minibar drinks, and bedside bible, to include sex toys such as handcuffs, stay ups and a vibrator.

But the unorthodox move has not met the approval of the authorities.

"The hotel is trying to glorify something that we are working to de-glorify," said Tom Eckerling at Stockholm police to the newspaper.

The hotel has no plans to change its minibar assortment however and reported that the response has been positive from guests, which it claims is made up of a chic fashion, art and music clientèle.

But the hotel told the newspaper that they try to take into account the needs of different groups and usually remove the items from hotel rooms used by families with children, for example.

Stockholm police have for some time been working closely together with the city's hotels to try to stamp out prostitution.

Berns Hotel has for example taken the initiative of removing adult film channels after starting a cooperation with Ecpat, which works to stamp out child prostitution.

Story continues below…

Despite the criticism over the innovative assortment, neither Eckerling, nor Berns Hotel reception manager Andreas L'Estrade, expect the sex toys to attract prostitution.

"There is nothing ugly with sex, that is something that we want to show," said L'Estrade to the newspaper.

One room please. Non-smoking, whirlpool bath, and a glory-hole.

Police here really don't want anyone having fun, they're crazy if they think that sex toys are going to increase prostitution. Also, removing the adult channels???? how is that going to stamp out child prostitution?

Swedes sometimes can be very misguided.

They remove the toys if families with children sign in? I hope they remove them every day, for cleaning. :S Not that I'd use someone elses toys even after cleaning, but still!

Remove sex movies from hotels: check

Remove sex toys from hotesl: check

Shops still sell sex movies: check

Even apotek still sells sex toys: check

= Absolutely no logic detected.

Conclusion: Stockholm police are a bunch of ****ing morons: check.

Find dildos in hotel?

This is a sign.

Oh gross, I don't care if they wash the bedsheets or not, I would sleep on the couch. There is no way in hell I would touch the handle to a Dildo bar.

How bout an assortment of blow-up dolls with picture of Mona Sahlin, Maud Olofsson?
11:47 September 27, 2010 by jhk
people I suspect you buy them, just like you buy a drink from the mini bar. No one in their right mind would use an already used toy. The locals choice of photo wasn't exactly helpful.

now all go have a nice cup of tea and clam down.

got to say from a marketing point of view it worked !
11:49 September 27, 2010 by freecommentator
Rishonim, you've got the right picture! And maybe for the critics and police guests we could have rooms with monks' and nuns' clothing, so that they could play their own game!

This is sure way of spreading sexually transmitted diseases. It is believed HIV virus can live for about 24 hours outside of the blood stream. There are also other types of diseases with a much longer life span. This hotel should be fined for even insisting for implementing such a public health hazard.

The profit motive encourages innovation but it also encourages crimes of hideous types. The public would need to be on the look. One sure way of doing this to campaign against the reelection of the politician of the district in which the hotel is located. The other is spreading the news that there is a danger of infection in the hotel!

The hotel can direct its guests interested in sex toys to buy them in gift shops or order them from the hotel's front-desk and throw them into a trashcan if the owners have no use for them again.

I hope Tom Eckerling of Stockholm police is taking similar steps to stamp out prostitution by criticising that other purveyor of sex aids, Apoteket.

I wonder how many victims of trafficking were raped yesterday while Tom was getting confused between sex aids and prostitution? I assume Tom plays some kind of role at the police trying to reduce prostitution. Traffickers must be quacking in their boots knowing such a man is hot on their trail.

Oh darn! I thought that thing was an automatic drink stirrer!
16:02 September 27, 2010 by fridayz
well said Audrian!

Ah...ah! Now I know your secret, you like women of ripe age....me,too...same,same
17:40 September 27, 2010 by William Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha

The fact that the HIV can live outside the body for 24 hours is only believed by those who are ignorant of the facts. Every single shred of research on the matter shows that it is a very fragile virus that survives a couple of minutes at most.

So the police in Stockholm are trying to de-glorify sex toys? What next, going to schools and showing students vibators and telling the kids how destructive such mechanisms are?

Please, this is so absurd -- someone send this story to Jay Leno.

Wait, I thought that mullahs rule in Iran not in Sweden. How mistaken I was.

Talking seriously seriously, Swedish police obviously lacks success and want' s to earn some goodwill, but this time they shot themselves in the foot.

I am not surprised it is the Berns involved in this. A corporation now world famous for being promoters of slave labor. Check out www.berns.cc if you don't believe me!
