Stars reveal new details about Mamma Mia sequel while in Stockholm

For a group that hasn’t released new music in 35 years, Abba sure seems busy these days.
Earlier this year, fans of the iconic Swedish quartet were sent into a tizzy when the group revealed that they got together in secret last year to record two new songs, "I Still Have Faith In You" and "Don't Shut Me Down". Then last month, the first few images of the reunion were released on social media to keep the fires burning.
Now Abba is gearing up for a return to the big screen, well for their songs anyway. ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again' is set to hit theatres next week and many of the film's stars were in Stockholm on Wednesday to mark the upcoming release. Cast members including Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried and Stellan Skarsgård joined Abba's Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson at the Grand Hotel to reveal details about the follow-up film, which serves as both a sequel and a prequel to the 2008 original.

The Local's Annabelle Leith was at the press conference and was able to get Andersson to confirm that three classic Abba songs that were performed in the first film will be repeated in the next.

They also confirmed that two Abba songs, 'I've Been Waiting For You' and 'My Love, My Life', fans have heard in the movie trailer have been updated with new lyrics.
"I loved the script and I knew that I had to write something that would directly click with what was going on in the scenes,” said Ulvaeus. "It was fun to do and it came to me quickly."
The new film, which premieres on July 18th in Sweden and two days later worldwide, will see significant star power in the form of Cher, who will play Donna's mother and the grandmother of Seyfried's Sophie, whose search for her father served as the plotline for the original film and the musical of the same name.
The 2008 film is the highest-grossing musical film of all time, bringing in a total of $615.7 million dollars at box offices worldwide. Whether the new film will be enough to tide over Abba fans until the release of their two songs later this year remains to be seen.
