The vaccination booking process for Covid-19 varies slightly around the country, so here's our quick English-language guide for people in Västra Götaland.

As of June 30th, vaccination in Västra Götaland is open to everyone over 18. You can book an appointment as long as you've reached your 18 birthday.

You can book via 1177.se by searching for a vaccination clinic and contacting them directly. The Västra Götaland region's website has a page where you can see all available vaccine appointments in one glance.

If you cannot book online, the region advises you to call the doctor's office or vaccination centre by phone.

You should be able to choose which clinic or centre you get vaccinated at, and a list of the locations is available from the region.

The region recommends preparing for your vaccine by wearing clothes which will make it easy to get the jab (for example, a short-sleeved top), and making sure you don’t plan any activities in the days after the vaccine in case you get side effects and need to stay home. It also recommends arriving on time but not too far in advance, in order to avoid crowding at the centre, and wearing a face mask.

You need to fill out a health declaration (hälsodeklaration) before you get your vaccine. You can do this when you arrive, but the region recommends doing it beforehand to reduce the risk of crowding, and you can find versions in a variety of languages from the Public Health Agency.

Vaccination against Covid-19 is free in Sweden, including if you do not have a personnummer, and it is the individual’s choice whether or not you get vaccinated.

You can keep up to date on when the vaccination is available to your age group in Västra Götaland by checking the regional website and 1177.se, which also has some information about the vaccine available in other languages.

The process may vary in other regions, so if you live outside Västra Götaland, check with your regional authorities.
