What happens to those who have attended and passed all 4 SFI levels and Grundskolan etc? Having been through written, comprehension, and aural examination at each level it seems a bit of overkill to do it all again. To what (international) level of linguistic competence will this test be set? Seems as if the government could save a lot of (our) money by using well established existing language standards.
  • Hi, The original inquiry on language tests proposed back in 2021 that applicants be able to meet the requirements in different ways ‒ among other things by showing that they have completed SFI course D, or a course of a similar level at school or Komvux. You can see details of their proposal in this article. We don't know yet if the government is planning on following that inquiry's proposals.

It is an added value to the migrants. You learn the national language; you understand more about society. I agree with the other comments; it has nothing to do with the issues the government is trying (or showing off) that need to be solved. As a person who moved here 4 years ago, reading the news and following the media, I claim that problematic individuals know more than these tests will address.

I agree civic tests and language requirement might increase the integration of newcomers. I think language is a need and civics good to have. Though it disqualifies reason for extended residence requirement which impacts me.I dnt see how it improves security or integration. disappointing…

Unfortunately there is none defending the rights of people like us, even though we pay taxes and act as good citizens. this attitude put doubts on high skilled labor and I personally will change to a more welcoming EU country once I find a job opportunity. Very

I object to the rising incitement and blaming of 98% of newcomers who work hard, learn the language, and integrate. Skilled immigrants who comply with all laws are unfairly punished with false arguments and irrelevant solutions. I strongly oppose the increased residency requirement, which adds pressure and shatters our dreams of stability. However, language and Swedish culture tests are logical.
