An average of 20,404 vehicles crossed the bridge daily between January and June - a 6.6 percent increase compared with the same period last year, according to operator Øresundsbro Konsortiet. Leisure travel among ØresundGO members rose 7.7 percent, freight traffic grew 3.3 percent, and commuting surged by 9.7 percent.
The Konsortiet's chief executive, Linus Eriksson, said the figures showed the bridge, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, is playing an increasingly important role in everyday life and business in the region.
"Commuting across the Øresund Bridge was strong last year, but has continued to increase this year. It is a long-term trend that shows that more and more people see the opportunities of working on the other side of the strait," Eriksson said.
Green crossings - vehicles powered by electricity or hydrogen – also saw sharp growth, rising from 12.2 percent of total traffic in June 2024 to 17.4 percent in June this year, a 43 percent jump.
The consortium reported a pre-value adjustment profit of 776 million Danish kroner, up 75 million kroner year-on-year. Road revenues climbed 6.9 percent to 838 million kroner, while falling interest costs and reduced debt helped boost the bottom line.
Øresundsbro Konsortiet now expects a full-year pre-adjustment profit of 1.6-1.7 billion kroner, higher than earlier forecasts.
