Most Swedes don't treat them differently on a personal level, say our American readers, although many describe having to answer more questions about their government than before. And some resent Swedish assumptions that they don't support Trump.

Funny that the Trumpists gave their own opinion on Greenland when that was not the question at all. Typical.

I was inspired many years ago by the words of the iconic folk singer Joan Baez who said: "I believe in people, not countries". What that means to me is that there are good and bad people all over the world and that has little to do with the countries that they live in. I am horribly embarrassed to say that I am American and yet I know that there are many good Americans who don't believe in the greed, corruption, and cruelty of the American government.

Frankly surprised and a bit shocked to read some of the pro Trump comments and thoughts re Greenland here (albeit seemingly in the minority)... You don't have to agree with your host country on everything, but if you're advocating for stuff that's to the detriment of your host country that's really not on.

@Jck. Trump is rarely "right". Europe is a continent of about 44 sovereign nations, at least 87 distinct native peoples and a population of about 745 million, so let's not generalize, eh? Nobody is "resentful" of individual Americans, not even my Canadian friends (who Trump also threatened to annex). The USA's problems are entirely self-inflicted and spelled M-A-G-A. Please leave them at home and realize that the US needs its allies more than ever and may not survive without them. Thanks!

It's sad to say - but Trump is right about some things. First - Europeans largely resent Americans. Always have. Always will. The things they say about Americans are often astonishing. I've observed it. It seems to come from a strange place deep inside. And with regards to Denmark's control of Greenland - aren't progressives supposed to be against colonialism and all that? And isn't Denmark's control of Greenland a left-over from a bygone era? Time to walk away from it?
