Ikea press chief Fredrik Norrlid told the Aftonbladet newspaper that the company was "streamlining".
"Certain roles will disappear," he said.
A total of 480 jobs being cut in Sweden concern the company's global operations at its offices in Malmö and Helsingborg.
Business news site Dagens Industri reports that the decision was made by new Ingka Group CEO Juvencio Maeztu as a way of cutting bureaucracy.
Instead, the company wants to focus on customer relations in its stores.

The news came a day after banking giant Nordea announced it would be cutting around 1,500 jobs between 2026 and 2027.
