Nice that they named it after the Locals podcast! I’m not counting on getting a ‘Golden Ticket’ so will just have to wait my turn and continue shaking my head in disbelief. Someone needs to ask why on earth they can’t roll out several test at the same time regionally as they do on National tests for other subjects. Good luck to the chosen few!

being able to take and pass this test in Swedish should pull double duty for language proficiency.

There are 101,000+ people in the queue. The current wait time is 4 years. No tests will be ready in a month, when the new law takes effect. The language test won't be ready until October 2027. Until then, they're expecting people to show they've completed at least SFI D. The civics test launches in August, 48 pages of study material. They're only inviting 1,000 people to take the civics test, on one test day in Stockholm, in the entire second half of 2026. They've already called it a high-stakes test, so more resources (that they don't have to begin with) will be needed it. Officials have now said they can't bulk reject after June 6th, so the 101,000+ person queue won't magically vanish this year. They received almost 6,000 new citizenship applications in March alone this year. When do we just start saying the government is all but eliminating realistic pathways to citizenship?

Why are they only allowing 1000 people? Isn’t this cherrypicking? Is this for the initial tests or this is how they are going to further motivate people to leave Sweden? This is just crazy. They are so unpredictable

How will Migrationsverket select the 1000 people that will be able to take the test in August? Since a letter from Migrationsverket is required to sign up.
